Request for Parcel Tax (Measures P and V) Exemption
Fiscal Year 2011-12 – First Year of Filing for Owner and Occupant Who is Age 65 or Older as of June 30, 2011
REQUEST FOR PARCEL TAX (MEASURES P AND V) EXEMPTION:
Voters within the boundaries of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District (PVPUSD) approved Measure P (parcel tax of $209) on June 5, 2007, and Measure V (parcel tax of $165) on June 23, 2009. A “Direct Assessment” for both parcel taxes will appear on property tax bills beginning in tax fiscal year 2009-10 and ending 2012-13.
One “Request for Parcel Tax Exemption” from both taxes for the 2011-12 tax year may be filed with the PVPUSD by the owner and occupant of his/her “primary residence only,” if (s)he is 65 years of age or older, as of June 30, 2011. The first application (regardless of tax year) must be submitted in person before 4:00 p.m. on or before the last business day in May. At the time of filing, you must bring verification of the following items (originals), we will copy for our records:
(1) Date of Birth
(CA Driver License, Passport, or Birth Certificate)
(2) Proof of Ownership
(2010 Property Tax Bill)
(3) Proof of “Primary” Residence
(So CA Edison or The Gas Bill for 2011 — most recent)
The Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District (PVPUSD) has two (2) different forms for a parcel tax exemption. Your information can be typed directly on the appropriate application (tab between fields) and printed from your computer.
• The FIRST parcel tax exemption form (Fiscal Year 2011-12 – First Year of Filing), along with the required documentation, must be submitted at our NEW address: PVPUSD, 375 Via Almar, Palos Verdes Estates, CA 90274-1261, in person by the owner and occupant of the property identified on the property tax bill by the Assessor’s Identification Number.
If you filed an exemption application for any of the previous tax years (2003-04, 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10, or 2010-11), this form (Fiscal Year 2011-12 – First Year of Filing) is not the correct form to use. Questions: Call Rita Moyers at (310) 378-9966, Extension 404.
• The SECOND parcel tax exemption form (Fiscal Year 2011-12 – Renewal) is used when you have already filed an exemption form for one or more tax years (2003-04, 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10, or 2010-11). If you want to continue receiving your exemption, a parcel tax RENEWAL form must be submitted each year. Renewal forms must be mailed to: PVPUSD, 375 Via Almar, Palos Verdes Estates, Ca 90274-1261, along with a bill or copy of the owner’s most recent gas or electric bill that you received in 2011; a bill received in 2010 and paid in January 2011 is not acceptable.
